AECOM’s environmental practice is dedicated to helping clients and governments meet their environmental responsibilities to develop critical infrastructure for transportation, energy transition and Brisbane 2032, while protecting the natural environment and the Great Barrier Reef. We provide advisory and technical services to manage impacts, ensure compliance and reduce risks, including influencing design, securing approvals, and tackling climate change risk and resilience. We focus on preserving habitats and cultural resources, protecting water quality and the Great Barrier Reef, and promoting a holistic approach to environmental impact management at every project stage.
Join our multidisciplinary team providing strategic environmental advice, design optimisation, impact assessment and management planning to secure approvals for the NQ region’s critical infrastructure projects. In this role, you will lend your strengths to technical excellence in project delivery, proactive client engagement and work winning, collaboration and mentoring supporting positive team culture and high performing work environment across regional offices.
How you’ll make a difference
- Environment lead for high profile projects to secure State and Commonwealth approvals in collaboration with clients and cross‑business line teams
- Manage the delivery of complex Environmental Impact Assessment and approvals for major projects, including coordination of multidisciplinary technical teams, environmental impact assessment and approval processes (EIS, MID, EPBC)
- Provide technical leadership and manage multidisciplinary technical teams to identify risks, solve problems, communicate change through planning, design and approval processes
- Provide technical advice and strategic planning for impact assessment and approvals across a diverse range of projects and environmental services
- Manage resources, delegating activities, monitoring and managing project budgets (with support as required)
The qualities that help you thrive

- Bachelor’s degree in Regional/Urban Planning or Environmental Planning, Science or Engineering
- 12+ years relevant environmental assessment and approvals experience in a consulting environment (desirable)
- Demonstrated experience leading successful application of Commonwealth and State planning and environmental legislation on major projects
- Commercial acumen and experience as a project manager, with advanced skill in schedule, resource and budget management
