Westgold Resources is looking for a detail oriented Underground Senior Geologist to assist in the implementation and execution of geological tasks on a family friendly 8:6 roster at Beta Hunt Operations in the Southern Goldfields.
Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for all mine geology activities, including monitoring and tracking ore mining activities.
- Produce and maintain the diamond drill schedule and ensure all proposals are signed off.
- Contribute to delivering resource model updates upon drill program completion in line with mine planning requirements.
- Perform geological reconciliation and provide advice to operations to minimise dilution, recover the highest proportion of economic mineralisation and maximise commercial outcome of the site in line with corporate guidance.
- Maintain grade-control, ore-production and geological-reconciliation standards in conjunction with the Perth Technical Team.
- Assist in the preparation and consolidation of site geological budgets.
- Seek means of reducing costs and increasing revenue through process and continuous improvement both technically and commercially.
- Supervise and direct project geologists, mine geologists, graduate/junior geologists, geology technicians and contractors.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- 7+ years of mining experience, including 5+ years in gold mining.
- Comprehensive understanding of the entire mining cycle from exploration through to mining and geological reconciliation from processing.
- Demonstrated technical excellence and best practice methods in grade control, geological modelling and estimation.
- Ability to accurately forecast budgets and manage costs.
- Experience with Leapfrog.
- Graduates with a tertiary qualification in Geology.
- Ability to develop, coach, discipline and mentor employees in geological roles.
- Current and valid manual driver’s licence.
- National Police Clearance valid within the last 12 months.
- Ability to pass Westgold's pre-employment process.
