Senior Data Engineer | Microsoft Fabric Specialist

Location: Sydney, NSW (Preferable) but can be Melbourne, VIC based too. Role Type: Full-time, Permanent role

We are representing a leading Australian specialist firm that delivers high-impact financial performance and data analytics solutions across the Asia-Pacific region. Our client is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to lead the charge in designing and implementing modern data solutions using Microsoft Fabric .

The Opportunity

In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex business requirements and technical execution. You will architect end-to-end data pipelines, mentor junior engineers, and drive innovation within a highly collaborative Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Architect & Design: Lead the implementation of scalable data warehousing, lakehouse, and analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric.
- Develop Pipelines: Build and maintain robust data transformation processes using Python and PySpark.
- Data Quality: Design monitoring frameworks to ensure the highest standards of data accuracy and reliability.
- Automation & DevOps: Optimize existing pipelines and integrate CI/CD practices to streamline delivery.
- Mentorship: Act as a technical lead, guiding junior team members and contributing to strategic architectural decisions.

Technical Requirements

- Experience: 5+ years in Data Engineering roles.
- Microsoft Fabric Expertise: Deep hands‑on experience with Data Factory, Synapse Analytics,



and Power BI.
- Programming: Advanced Python skills (pandas, numpy, pyspark) and expert‑level SQL.
- Azure Ecosystem: Proven experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, including SQL and Spark pools.
- Frameworks: Strong understanding of dimensional modeling and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Preferred: Knowledge of Databricks, Delta Lake, or Generative AI/LLM integration.
