Position Title: Senior Security Officer
Level and Salary: Level 3 ($89,464 - $96,043) per annum + 12% Superannuation
Department: Parliamentary Services
Section: Security
Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time
Role Overview
As a Senior Security Officer, you will play a key leadership role in maintaining a safe, secure and professional environment within the Parliamentary precinct. The position supports the delivery of security services and provides operational leadership to Security Officers while ensuring the ongoing safety of Members of Parliament, staff, visitors and parliamentary assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinating and supporting daily security operations
- Assisting with incident management, reporting and communication
- Providing mentoring, guidance and on-the-job supervision to Security Officers
- Maintaining the integrity of secure areas within the Parliamentary environment
- Assisting with workforce planning, resource allocation and roster coordination
- Supporting reception functions including visitor management and pass allocation
- Monitoring access and egress to Parliament House
- Operating and monitoring CCTV, access control and alarm systems
- Conducting regular patrols of Parliament House, the Parliamentary precinct and surrounding areas
- Responding to security incidents, emergencies, demonstrations and public disturbances
- Undertaking Fire Warden and First Aid responsibilities when required

Selection Criteria
Essential
- Minimum of three (3) years' security experience in the public or private sector.
- Two to three (2-3) years demonstrated leadership experience.
- Knowledge of security services encompassing security technology, security practices and procedures.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Well-developed public relations skills with the ability to effectively deal with people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
- Reliability, dependability and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Physical fitness for operational duties.
- Must possess a current National Police Clearance (less than 12 months old).
Desirable
- Certificate III in Security Operations
- Current Senior First Aid certificate
- Policing or military background
- Experience as a Fire Warden
- Experience in monitoring and controlling CCTV
