Join our Community, Mental Health & Wellbeing team as a Registered Nurse specialising in Alcohol & Other Drug services. Based in North West Tasmania, you'll work directly with individuals and families affected by substance use, providing compassionate care and evidence-based interventions in a supportive community setting.

This permanent, full-time position offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in people's recovery journeys while working alongside a collaborative multidisciplinary team committed to holistic healthcare approaches.

The Role

- Our services work closely with both the public and private sectors to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
- The Registered Nurse contributes to delivering high‑quality alcohol and other drug treatment service in accordance with relevant Government Legislation and Regulations, Primary Health Care Principles, Alcohol and Drug Service (ADS) policies, procedures and protocols, and relevant professional competencies.

What you'll do

- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Provide therapeutic interventions and counseling support.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, community organisations, and families.
- Facilitate group programmes and educational sessions.
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in case conferences.
- Support clients through withdrawal management and ongoing recovery.
- Pharmacotherapy treatment and harm minimisation advice as part of the MDT process,



including travel to outreach centres and in inpatient facilities.

You will need

- Experience in mental health, addiction services, or community health preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of trauma‑informed care principles.

Details of appointment

- Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as you can join our team. Notice: hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Ulverstone, Tasmania

Salary

$80,524 to $109,175 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $102,439 - $109,175 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available.





- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

- Completed or working towards post graduate qualifications in AOD.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
