Primary objective
The Grants and Program Officer is responsible for the development, implementation and management of grant and funding
agreements. The role contributes to the Children and Families priority reform outlined in Safe and Supported, Close the Gap,
Generational Strategy, and similar strategies.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Develop grant and funding agreements and support departmental staff and external stakeholders on matters relating to

contracts, grants, acquittals and project initiatives.
2. Work closely with internal and external partners to scope and develop grants that include business requirements,

performance indicators, reporting and similar.
3. Provide advice, guidance, and training to internal staff and funded organisations to improve grant and contract

management skills and capability,



including the use of GrantsNT and other reporting mechanisms as required.
4. Contribute to the drafting of reports, briefings and high-level correspondence.
5. Develop and maintain effective stakeholder engagement frameworks and coordinate information and advice across NT

Government agencies.
6. Provide technical grants administration and assurance and compliance advice throughout the grant funding lifecycle.
7. Assist in the monitoring and recommending improvement for compliance in programs per the NT Government’s grants

policy and agency guidelines.
8. Actively participate in a team contributing to innovation and continuous quality improvement.
9. Contribute to practice improvement and sector strengthening in collaboration with partner organisations.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience working with grants, contracts, funding agreements, with a proven grasp of project

management principles.
2. Ability to engage with external stakeholders, including Aboriginal community-controlled organisations in a culturally

respectful and collaborative manner.
3. Highly developed interpersonal skills with strong self-discipline and resilience, and ability to negotiate and positively

influence others to achieve goals and objectives.
4. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the capacity to work efficiently under pressure, meet tight

deadlines, and deliver high-quality results.
5. Highly developed oral and written communication skills, with a proven ability to prepare documentation with robust

attention to detail and accuracy.
6. Proficiency in dealing with IT systems and platforms.

Desirable
1. Working knowledge of program delivery and key reform priorities within the NTPS, or the ability to quickly obtain.
