We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Sushi Chef to join our team.
About the Role
As a Sushi Chef at KIRISHIMA, you will work alongside our chefs in delivering a refined omakase experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare sushi and sashimi to a consistently high standard
- Portion and prepare premium seafood with precision
- Maintain exceptional food presentation and quality
- Ensure a clean, organised, and efficient workstation
- Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team throughout service
- Assist with daily preparation and stock management
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Sushi Chef or in Japanese cuisine
- Strong knife skills and fish preparation experience
- Passion for Japanese cuisine and attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, punctual, and skilled attitude
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Valid Australian working rights
Preferred
- Experience in omakase or fine dining restaurants
- Knowledge of premium seafood and seasonal ingredients
- Understanding of Japanese culinary techniques and food safety standards
