About the role

Elite Heating & Cooling is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Air Conditioning 1st/2nd year Apprentice to join our team in Canberra, ACT. This is a full-time apprenticeship position that offers an excellent foundation in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry. As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced technicians, developing practical skills and theoretical knowledge whilst contributing to the delivery of high-quality heating and cooling solutions to our customers. This role is essential in building the next generation of skilled tradespeople in the HVAC sector.

What you'll be doing

1. Assisting experienced technicians with the installation, maintenance and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems

2. Learning to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and system schematics

3. Performing basic mechanical and electrical tasks under direct supervision

4. Preparing work sites and ensuring tools and equipment are ready for use

5. Carrying out system inspections and identifying potential issues with guidance from senior staff

6. Maintaining accurate records of work completed and parts used

7. Attending block-release or day-release training sessions to complete your apprenticeship qualification

8. Following all health and safety protocols and contributing to a safe working environment

9. Developing customer service skills by assisting with client interactions and understanding their needs

10. Learning about refrigerants, electrical systems and mechanical components relevant to HVAC work

What we're looking for

1.



A keen interest in the trades and a strong motivation to learn air conditioning and refrigeration systems

2. School Certificate or equivalent qualifications, with particular strength in Maths and Science

3. The ability to work safely and follow health and safety guidelines at all times

4. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for technical work

5. Strong communication skills and the ability to take direction from supervisors

6. Physical fitness and the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces

7. A reliable and punctual approach to work with a positive attitude

8. Willingness to complete formal apprenticeship training alongside on-the-job experience

9. Current driving licence or the ability to travel to various job sites across Canberra

10. Problem-solving ability and attention to detail
