A Federal Government Department is seeking up to 3 Data Engineers as part of project to enhance their compliance analytics and fraud detection capabilities. These roles will be focused on building data assets that can be used to build a range of analytical output.
Contract Details:
- Initial 12 month contract with 2 X 6 month extension options out to August 30 2028 (2 years total)
- Estimated start date August 2026 (pending onboarding and Availability)
- Baseline Security clearance required (you must be an Australian Citizen to go through the vetting process).
- Full time 37.5-hour work week. This is an hourly rate contract
- This role can be located in the ACT, NSW, QLD or SA.
- Hybrid working options - 2 days in office and 3 days remote (once induction an onboarding has been completed).
Desired Experience:
- Experience with Teradata SQL, data modelling, and development of scalable ETL/ELT pipelines in complex environments.
- Experience designing and managing data warehouse architectures and delivering reusable, high-quality data assets for analytics and operational use.
- Proven ability to integrate complex datasets and operationalise detection logic, including embedding indicators and model outputs into production data pipelines.
- Strong understanding of data governance, including data quality, lineage, metadata management, and use of tools such as Microsoft Purview (or equivalent).
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure) and up-to-date data engineering practices, including performance optimisation and pipeline orchestration.
- Experience with testing, validation, and continuous improvement of data pipelines and data products.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate business and analytical requirements into robust, scalable data solutions.
- Demonstrated delivery focus, problem-solving ability, and experience working in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
