About the Role
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to join our Perth team.
Reporting to the HSEQ Manager, you will work closely with our operational leaders to support the delivery of critical utility infrastructure projects across the Power, Water, Gas, Civil and Fabrication divisions.
This is a hands-on role focused on building a strong safety culture through leadership, coaching and practical support. You will work closely with supervisors and project teams to ensure compliance with legislation, client requirements and Benang's integrated management system while helping our people achieve safe and successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day WHS support across multiple infrastructure projects.
- Conduct site inspections, audits and workplace observations.
- Coach supervisors and field personnel on secure work practices.
- Assist with incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions.
- Develop and review SWMS, JHAs, risk assessments and safety documentation.
- Support project mobilisation and pre-start activities.
- Monitor compliance with company procedures, legislation and client requirements.
- Maintain accurate safety records and reporting.
- Assist with client audits and regulatory inspections.
- Promote continuous improvement and a positive safety culture across the business.
What We're Looking For
1. Previous experience as a Safety Advisor within construction, utilities, infrastructure or mining.
2. Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and best practice.
3. Excellent communication and coaching skills.
4. Ability to build positive relationships with operational teams.
5. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
6. Practical approach to problem solving and risk management.
7. A proactive attitude with a genuine passion for workplace safety.
8. Demonstrated experience implementing and coaching psychosocial risk management and behavioural safety programs, with the ability to influence leaders and frontline teams to build a positive safety culture.
Skills and Tasks
- Experience conducting safety audits and inspections.
- Experience investigating incidents and identifying corrective actions.
- Strong understanding of risk management processes.
- Ability to prepare reports and maintain safety documentation.
- Experience using safety management systems.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to work autonomously while supporting multiple project teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must-Haves
- 3+ years' experience experience in a similar Safety Advisor or WHS role.
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum).
- Current Driver's Licence.
- Construction White Card.
- Current First Aid Certificate (desirable).
- Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening.
Highly Regarded
- Diploma in Work Health and Safety.
- Lead Auditor qualification.
- ICAM or TapRooT Investigation Training.
- Experience working on Western Power, Water Corporation, Development WA or ATCO Gas projects.
- Experience with Federal Safety Commissioner (FSC), ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management Systems.
- Internal Auditor qualification.
- Return to Work Coordinator certification.

Location
This position is primarily based at our Subiaco Head Office, with regular travel to project sites across the Perth metropolitan area. From time to time, opportunities may also arise to support regional infrastructure projects throughout Western Australia.
