Role Description The Baker/Baking Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Mermaid Waters, QLD. In this position, the team member will assist with mixing, shaping, and baking bread, rolls, etc according to established recipes and procedures. Daily tasks include preparing ingredients, operating bakery equipment, monitoring oven times and temperatures, and ensuring products meet quality and presentation standards. The role also involves maintaining a clean, safe work area, following food safety and hygiene guidelines, and helping with stock rotation and ingredient storage.



The Baker/Baking Assistant may also support front-of-house staff during busy periods by replenishing displays and communicating with the team to meet customer demand.
Qualifications
Experience or strong interest in bakery operations, with the ability to work in a fast-paced baking environment.Practical skills in baking and food preparation, including following recipes and measuring ingredients accurately.Knowledge or experience in producing bread and similar baked goods, focusing on texture, flavor, and consistency.Ability to assist with cookies and other sweet products, ensuring correct portioning, baking, and presentation.Understanding of basic food safety, hygiene standards, and safe handling of equipment and hot surfaces.Reliable, punctual, and able to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays as required.Strong teamwork, communication skills, and a positive attitude toward learning and following instructions.Previous bakery or food retail experience is beneficial but not essential; training will be provided.
