We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working outdoors and has a passion for fine turf maintenance, landscaping or vegetation management to join our Course Maintenance Team in the role of Grounds Person.
About the Role
As a Grounds Person, you will play an important role in maintaining and enhancing all areas of the Club's extensive grounds. The position has a strong focus on preparation and presentation of fine sports turf playing surfaces, along with management of trees, native vegetation and landscaped areas.
Responsibilities of the position include:
- Undertaking all aspects of maintenance and presentation of the golf course and practice facilities
- Maintaining and improving areas of trees, gardens and native vegetation throughout the property
- Planting, pruning, mulching, weeding and general garden maintenance
- Safe application of fertilisers and chemicals in accordance with best practice standards
- Operating a variety of grounds maintenance equipment including mowers, small plant and other tools
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, re-vegetation,
bush care or related outdoor work
- Strong practical skills and experience operating grounds maintenance equipment and machinery
- A proactive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- A strong commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental standards
- Physical fitness and the ability to undertake outdoor manual work
- A current Class C Driver's License
Desirable Skills and Experience
The following experience would be highly regarded:
- Qualifications in a horticultural field such as Sports Turf Management or other area of Horticulture
- Demonstrated sports turf or golf course maintenance experience
- Plant propagation and seed collection
- Plant, pest and disease identification and management skills
