2027 New Graduate Occupational Therapist Program

The Nurture Team, a Neurodivergent-led practice, is supportive, tight-knit, and passionate about helping children and adults flourish and grow. Our mission is to empower individuals to thrive in their learning and community environments, build strong relationships, and lead full, autonomous lives. We service our community from our Beulah Park and Salisbury clinics, alongside meaningful school, childcare, home, and community-based visits. We manage a diverse caseload consisting of both NDIS participants and private paying clients.

The Nurture team presumes competence, respects sensory differences, and honors the bodily autonomy of every individual we support. We implement practices that are respectful, culturally competent, trauma-sensitive, and empathetic.

We're launching our 2027 New Graduate OT Program, a structured, supported pathway designed to set new-to-practice Occupational Therapists up for a confident and thriving career. You'll be paired with experienced mentors and guided through everything from clinical reasoning to report writing, alongside like-minded clinicians who are just as passionate about neuroaffirming care as you are.

What You'll Be Doing

- Enhance Daily Functioning & Engagement: Support children and young adults to access education and community participation, building your skills across the caseload as you grow in confidence.

- Holistic Skill Development: Learn to support sensory processing, emotional regulation, fine/gross motor skills, executive functioning,



and independent living skills, under close supervision.

- Cooperative Goal Setting: Learn to assess and develop individualised, neuroaffirming therapy plans in direct conjunction with clients, their families, and their broader support network.

- Age-Appropriate Engagement: Use play, interest-based activities, and real-world functional tasks to drive engagement, learning, and skill development.

- Capacity Building: Partner with parents, carers, and support networks to foster autonomy and independence.

- Systemic Advocacy: Start developing your voice advocating for environmental accommodations and structural supports in schools, workplaces, and the community.

- Grow With Us: Take part in structured supervision, case discussions, and professional development built specifically for new graduates.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

- A genuine passion for supporting children and adults.

- A strong commitment to neurodiversity-affirming practices and a willingness to continually learn from neurodivergent voices.

- An openness to learning about sensory integration and regulation-based approaches (prior study or placement exposure is great, but we'll teach you the rest).

- A willingness to learn and navigate the NDIS framework.

- Confident oral and written communication skills, with a growing focus on strengths-based reporting.





- Good organisational and time management skills, or a genuine willingness to build these early in your career.

- A collaborative mindset and a desire to be an active team player.

- A completed (or soon to be completed) tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy, with eligibility for AHPRA registration.

- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and relevant state screening clearances, or willingness to obtain these prior to commencing work.

- Current mandatory notification training, or willingness to obtain this prior to commencing work.

Desirable:

- Placement experience with autistic or other neurodivergent individuals.

- Interest in supporting teenagers or young adults with life transitions (e.g., school-to-work, independent living).
