About Mindful Hearts Recovery Coaching
Mindful Hearts Recovery Coaching (MHRC) is a values-led provider delivering psychosocial recovery coaching and support coordination. We work in a trauma-informed, neuro-affirming way, and we’re looking for a skilled, steady support worker to join one of our participant’s individual support teams in Hobart.
About the role
We’re recruiting on behalf of a young Aboriginal, neurodivergent woman in her twenties who lives independently and is building a stable, protected daily routine. She requires a consistent, experienced support worker who can bring calm, patience and genuine care to complex situations.
What the role involves
- Supporting daily living tasks, including cooking, household routines and (where required) personal care
- Providing calm, de-escalation focused support during periods of distress, in line with an existing behaviour support plan
- Supporting safe transport and community access
- Monitoring for and responding appropriately to seizure activity and other physical safety needs (training provided)
- Working alongside allied health and behaviour support practitioners as part of a coordinated care team
- Keeping clear, accurate shift notes in line with NDIS documentation standards
What we’re looking for
- Experience supporting people with complex psychosocial disability and/or trauma backgrounds
- A genuinely trauma-informed and neuro-affirming approach: non-judgemental, respectful, person-led
- Comfort working with behaviour support plans, boundaries, and de-escalation strategies
- Cultural sensitivity and respect when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients
- Reliability and consistency (particularly for overnight or on-call shifts if rostered)
- A current driver’s licence, registered and insured motor vehicle
- Certificate 4 in Mental Health/Community Services (highly desirable)
Requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (current)
- National Police Check (current or willing to obtain)
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module (“Quality, Safety and You”)
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate
- Experience with supporting a person with an eating disorder
- Working with Vulnerable People registration/check (Tasmania) or willingness to obtain (if applicable to your setup)
What we offer
- A small, values-led team that prioritises safety, dignity and high-quality support
- Regular supervision and reflective practice
- Clear onboarding and guidance around documentation, boundaries, and escalation pathways
- Training for role-specific needs (including seizure response guidance)
We welcome applications from people with lived experience, neurodivergent applicants, and people from diverse cultural and identity backgrounds. We are committed to culturally safe practice and a safer recruitment process.
