About the role

Graham Thomson Motors is seeking an experienced Master Diesel Technician to join our team in Shepparton, VIC. This is a full-time position with a Kenworth and DAF fanchised dealership that plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional service and maintaining the highest standards of diesel vehicle maintenance and repair. As a Master Diesel Technician, you will be at the forefront of our technical operations, providing expert diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on diesel-powered vehicles. This position is central to our commitment to delivering reliable, quality workmanship to our valued customers. The role will be well supported by long term staff and committment from a team envisonment.

Key responsibilities

- Diagnose and repair complex diesel engine issues using advanced diagnostic equipment and techniques

- Perform comprehensive maintenance services including servicing, fluid changes, filter replacements, and component inspections

- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and provide detailed reports on vehicle condition and required repairs

- Rebuild and overhaul diesel engines and associated components to manufacturer specifications

- Test repaired vehicles to ensure all work meets safety and performance standards

- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians and apprentices

- Maintain accurate work records, timesheets, and technical documentation

- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry standard

What we're looking for

- Trade qualification or equivalent experience as a diesel mechanic or technician (minimum 5+ years in diesel-specific work)

- Demonstrated expertise in diesel engine diagnosis, repair, and overhaul

- Proficiency with diagnostic scanning equipment and computer-based diagnostic systems

- Strong knowledge of diesel fuel systems, turbochargers, and emission control systems

- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions





- Proven track record of delivering high-quality workmanship and attention to detail

- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical matters clearly to customers

- Valid driver's licence and willingness to occasionally test-drive vehicles

- Commitment to ongoing career development and staying current with industry advancements

- Preferred experience with specific diesel brands such as Cummins, Paccar, Merritor, Eaton
