The Opportunity
Seeking a Senior Power System Engineer to join our Network Connections team, supporting the secure, reliable and future-focused performance of South Australia's high-voltage transmission network based in Adelaide, South Australia.
You will provide specialist advice on customer connections and power system performance, assessing proposals, negotiating Generator Performance Standards and developing power system models that support a secure, reliable transmission network.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic & People Leadership
- Lead technical initiatives and influence key decisions
- Mentor engineers and guide project teams
- Work with stakeholders to deliver compliant, future focused network outcomes
Operational & Technical
- Manage customer connections, technical advice, assessments and GPS negotiations
- Support long term planning analysis, market assessments and scenario modelling
- Produce planning reports, power system models and specialist analysis to support system security, capability and compliance
About You
You are an experienced power systems professional with strong technical judgement, attention to detail and experience in transmission network performance, customer connections, power system and modelling.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or above
- Eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia
- Minimum 10+ years' experience in transmission network, power systems or related engineering discipline
- Strong experience in power system planning, network performance, customer connections, and operational support
- Sound knowledge of transmission system reliability,
substation components and performance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical data and models to support power system planning, system design and operational outcomes
- Strong understanding of the economic impact of solutions to complex technical problems
- Experience using modelling analysis and programming tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, AULimit, Python or Matlab
- Sound knowledge of legislated industry requirements including NER, ESCOSA, OTR and AEMO
- Strong communication and stakeholder influencing skills, to support business improvement and collaboration effectively
- Willingness to travel as required for site testing and commissioning activities
