What You’ll Drive
The Information Security Engineer is TAFE SA’s authoritative technical lead for enterprise information security engineering. Operating under broad direction, the role provides independent security design authority for complex and high – risk initiatives, establishes and governs enterprise security patterns and controls, and sets security-by-design expectations across the ICT portfolio.
The Skills You Bring
- You are an authoritative Information Security Engineering specialist with a proven track record of leading enterprise-scale security architecture and design initiatives. Leveraging deep expertise in security control selection, hardening, and complex risk analysis, you will play a pivotal role in protecting and strengthening large, complex hybrid and cloud environments.
- Proven leadership under broad direction, exercising substantial independence and judgement to deliver high-impact security outcomes, provide authoritative guidance for high‑risk initiatives, and build organisational capability through clear technical direction, mentoring, and the development of reusable artefacts that enhance secure engineering maturity.
- Bring deep expertise in leading security frameworks and standards (SACSF, ASD Essential Eight, ISO 27001 and ISM), applying them to deliver pragmatic security controls, measurable assurance outcomes,
and modern engineering practices such as Zero Trust, OWASP, least privilege and defence in depth.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with a proven ability to influence executives, collaborate across delivery teams and vendors, represent the organisation externally, and translate complex security concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.
What You Need to Know
A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) issued by the South Australian Department of Human Services is required before employment.
