About Monash Health Pathology Service

Alfred Health and Monash Health haveestablisheda formal partnership to deliver a Shared Pathology Service as one of twonew pathology networks for metropolitan Melbourne. All roles in the Pathology Programs are working to develop the Partnership and ensure we continue to provide high quality care for the patients across the health services.

Monash Health Pathology is an integral part of Monash Health. It is the largest public provider of Pathology services in the state and currentlyoperates6 laboratories. The largest of these islocatedat the Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, withadditionallaboratorieslocatedat the Dandenong, Moorabbin, Casey, Victorian Heart Hospital and Wonthaggi Hospitals. There are currently 18 collectionlocations basedwithin the hospital sites and community settings. Services are provided to the Public and Private sectors,



and other laboratory services.

About theChemical PathologyService

Themain biochemistry laboratoryis based at the Monash Medical Centre (Clayton Campus) but supports activities across all campuses of Monash Health.There are approximately2,105,330test episodes per annum.The position has duties and responsibilities that support thechemical pathologysectionof Monash Health / Monash Pathology in the provision of services across Monash Health consistent with the Strategic and Clinical plans of Monash Pathology and Monash Health.

The candidate will be appointed as afull-timechemical pathologist and Unit Head, Chemical Pathology(1.0EFT)toMonash Health Pathology.This is a permanent, ongoing role.

About the Role

Monash Health Pathologyisseekingan energetic, motivated, and detail-oriented Chemical Pathologist witha high levelof clinical competence and a strong commitment to excellence in Chemical Pathology. The successful candidate willdemonstrateup-to-date knowledge of recent advances in the field, along with a strong interest in teaching and research. A proventrack recordin leading laboratories that meet accreditation requirements is essential.

The role requires broad experience across all aspects of Chemical Pathology, including diagnostic techniques, as well asdemonstratedleadership and management capability. The ideal candidate willpossessstrong communicationskills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clinicians and multidisciplinary teams.

Experience in operational, staff, andfinancial managementwithin asubstantialdepartment is highly desirable, along with a proven ability to lead and deliver high-quality services. Exposure to both private and public healthcare sectors will be consideredadvantageous.

An adjunct academic appointment to Monash University will potentially be available depending on the experience and seniority of the successful candidate.

About You





To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

We are looking for candidates who is meticulous with attention to details, one who can multitask and be a team player and work in a complex environment.

A medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) with current registration the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)

Working with Children's Certificate

Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications

Specific qualifications (FRCPA) through the Royal College of Pathologists, Australasia

Offers of employment can only be made once all required probity checks have been completed. These include:

- Reference checks;
- A clear Police Check conducted within the last three months;
- A current Victorian Employee Working with Children's Check (or proof of payment for same);
- Proof of immunisation.

The incumbent must complete the Credentialing and Scope of Practice process prior to appointment and commencement. This will be reviewed on a regular basis.
