Casual Ophthalmology Technician / Medical Receptionist

We are a friendly and professional ophthalmology practice seeking a Casual Ophthalmology Technician / Medical Receptionist to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys patient interaction, works well in a medical environment, and is keen to learn.

About the Role

This is a dual role combining front-desk reception duties with clinical support for our ophthalmologists and optometrists. Full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

- Welcoming patients and managing appointments

- Answering phone calls and handling enquiries

- Patient billing, payments, and Medicare/private health claims

- Assisting with ophthalmic testing (e.g. visual acuity, OCT, visual fields – training provided)

- Preparing patients for consultations

- Maintaining accurate patient records





- General administrative and clinic support duties

About You

- Friendly, professional, and well-presented

- Strong communication and customer service skills

- Comfortable working with patients of all ages

- Good computer and organisational skills

- Ability to multitask in a busy clinical environment

- Reliable and a team player

Desirable (but not essential)

- Experience in a medical or allied health practice

- Previous receptionist or customer service experience

- Experience with ophthalmic testing (e.g. visual acuity, OCT, visual fields)

- Interest in healthcare or eye health

- Experience with medical software (Xestro – if applicable)
