Demi Chef

We’re on the lookout for a motivated Demi Chef to join our vibrant kitchen team at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid kitchen experience who is eager to grow and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

As a Demi Chef, you’ll assist in preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes in a specific section such as grill, sauce, or pastry. You’ll help ensure high food quality, maintain hygiene standards, and support junior kitchen staff, all while contributing to a smooth and efficient service.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and present dishes to a high standard within your assigned section

Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant kitchen space

Follow food safety and hygiene protocols at all times

Monitor stock and assist with rotation and inventory control

Support and guide Commis Chefs and junior team members





Communicate effectively with other sections during service

Respond to the demands of a fast-paced kitchen environment

About You:

1 - 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, ideally in a similar role

Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food prep techniques

Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills

Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs

Understanding of kitchen health and safety regulations

Able to perform under pressure in a busy service setting

Adaptable availability, including weekends and public holidays
