About the Role

Reporting to the Deputy Principal - Learning and Teaching, the Head of Languages provides strategic and operational leadership of the Languages Department while maintaining a teaching load.

You will lead a collaborative team of passionate educators to deliver an innovative, engaging and rigorous Languages curriculum that inspires students to thrive in an increasingly connected world. Through instructional leadership, coaching and mentoring, you will foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional growth and outstanding student outcomes.

The ability to teach Chinese or French is essential to this role.

Key Responsibilities

As Head of Languages, you will:

- Lead the strategic direction and ongoing development of the Languages curriculum from Years 7–12.
- Foster excellence in teaching, learning and assessment through evidence-informed practice.
- Analyse student achievement data to inform curriculum and improve learning outcomes.
- Mentor, coach and develop members of the Languages team, building a culture of collaboration and professional growth.
- Lead curriculum innovation, moderation and assessment practices, including SACE Stage 1 and Stage 2.
- Manage departmental operations, including budgeting, resources and planning.
- Build strong relationships with students,



families and colleagues while contributing to the wider leadership of the School.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

- Extensive experience teaching either French or Chinese at secondary level.
- Demonstrated curriculum leadership or a strong capacity to step into a leadership role.
- A passion for developing high-performing teams and supporting the growth of others.
- Excellent communication, organisational and relationship-building skills.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum design, assessment and contemporary pedagogical practice.
- A commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and educational excellence.
