This is an exciting opportunity for motivated, experienced Redress Support Workers at our Richmond Open Place centre to join RAV.

About Open Place:

Open Place is a support service for Victoria’s Forgotten Australians/pre-1990 care leavers. The service coordinates and provides direct assistance to people who grew up in Victorian orphanages and children’s homes prior to 1990. The service helps people to deal with the legacy of their childhood experiences and to support them to improve their health and wellbeing.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Manager Open Place, Redress Support Workers provides trauma- and care-informed support to Forgotten Australians applying to the National Redress Scheme for people who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse. The role delivers client-centred assistance throughout the application process, engages with stakeholders and partner organisations, and undertakes regional outreach to ensure accessible, evidence-based,



and outcomes-focused support across Victoria.

We are offering two full-time, temporary positions until June 2027 located at our Richmond Bromham Open Place Centre . The base salary range is $101,948 - $109,287 (pro-rata) per annum .

About you

- Degree in Social Work or a related discipline and/or demonstrated significant experience supporting survivors of institutional ‘care’.
- Previous experience in therapeutic work, including demonstrated ability to provide therapeutically informed support services to adults who have experienced childhood sexual abuse and its lifelong impact.
- Commitment to working with disadvantaged community members, particularly adults who grew up in institutional ‘care’.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and negotiation skills with the capacity to engage effectively with stakeholders and clients over the telephone for extended periods of time.
