The Regional Parenting program aims to promote the wellbeing and healthy development of children and young people aged from birth to 18 years by supporting parents/carers to develop their parenting skills and confidence and to respond positively to parenting challenges. The Regional Parenting program provides group programs and one-on-one education to assist parents develop solid parenting skills and strategies.
The program works alongside parents to increase confidence and support parents to feel more secure about their parenting to better support their children.
Specifically, the position is responsible for:
- Undertake intake and assessment, including risk assessment and screening. This includes assisting families to develop and implement safety plans if necessary; prioritising of clients; making appropriate referrals; and crisis intervention as required.
- Plan and deliver high quality parenting and post separation parenting education programs to individuals, couples, and children.
- Assistance with parenting issues and the development of skills to resolve these issues in the best interests of the child/children.
To be considered for this position, applicants require:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Education or relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering group-based learning.
- Strong understanding of a variety of theoretical frameworks and intervention strategies, including working with children, young people and families.
- Preference will be given to anyone experienced in delivering Tuning into Kids/Teens, Circle of Security Parenting or Bringing up Great Kids.
- Sensitivity to understand and respond to the needs of different audiences and ability to work with a diverse range of clients.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of child safe legislation, principles, standards and practices.
