This is a fixed term opportunity with an immediate start through to December 2027, with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
The Environmental Officer (Noise) provides specialist environmental noise assessment, regulatory and advisory services to support the effective administration of environmental noise legislation in Western Australia. Working under limited supervision, the role assesses complex noise-related issues, interprets and applies the Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1997 and relevant provisions of the Environmental Protection Act 1986, and delivers evidence-based technical advice to internal and external stakeholders.
The position plays a key role in protecting community amenity and supporting sustainable development by assisting local governments, industry, government agencies and the public to understand and comply with environmental noise requirements. The role contributes to environmental impact assessments, compliance and enforcement activities, policy development, and capacity building across the Department and broader regulatory network.
Through collaboration, technical expertise and stakeholder engagement, the Environmental Officer (Noise)
supports informed decision-making and the consistent application of environmental noise legislation to achieve positive environmental and community outcomes.
