Role Description: The Prepress Operator role is a full-time, in office position based in the Greater Adelaide Area. The Prepress Operator is responsible for preparing customer artwork files for print production, including checking, correcting, and optimising files to meet printing specifications and quality standards. Day-to-day tasks include creating and imposing layouts, managing colour profiles, performing trapping, screening, and proofing.
The role involves close collaboration with print production teams, account managers, and designers to resolve technical issues, meet deadlines, and maintain consistent output across digital and offset presses. The Prepress Operator is expected to follow established workflows, adhere to safety and sustainability guidelines, and contribute to continuous improvement of prepress procedures.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Print Production and Printing, with the ability to translate artwork into press-ready files and support both digital and offset workflows.
- Hands-on experience in Pre-press operations, including file preparation, colour management, imposition, trapping, and proofing.
- Competence with industry-standard design and prepress software (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, PDF workflows, RIP software).
- High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple jobs in a fast-paced production workplace.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative approach to working with production, sales, and customer service teams.
- Understanding of sustainable print practices and willingness to support environmentally responsible production methods.
- Relevant vocational qualification or trade certificate in prepress, graphic arts, or equivalent industry experience.
