About Us
aspiring futures SA provides person-centred support to people living with disability, helping participants remain living independently and stay connected with their community.
We are currently seeking reliable, caring and professional Disability Support Workers, with experience and knowledge of complex behaviours to join our team. This role involves supporting participants with psychosocial, physical, and intellectual disabilities, autism and complex behaviours within their homes and in the community, in line with their individual needs, goals, support plans and preferences.
About the Role
As a Support Worker, you will provide quality care and practical support to participants while promoting dignity, choice, independence, safety and community participation.
Duties may include:
- Providing personal care support in line with participant support plans and behaviour support plans.
- Assisting with daily living tasks, household duties and domestic assistance.
- Supporting participants with community access, appointments, shopping, social activities and skill-building.
- Maintaining accurate records and monitoring and reporting changes in participant needs.
- Following organisational policies, procedures, WHS requirements and NDIS standards.
- Working respectfully and collaboratively with participants, families, colleagues and the broader support team.
About You
- Reliable, respectful and professional.
- Minimum 12 months' experience working as a Disability Support Worker or in a similar support role.
- Demonstrated experience supporting participants with complex behaviours, psychosocial disability,
intellectual disability, autism and/or high support needs.
- Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans, restrictive practices (where applicable), and person-centred support strategies.
- Ability to manage challenging situations while maintaining a calm, skilled and respectful approach.
- Experience with medication assistance, manual handling and personal care (desirable).
- Reliable, respectful and professional with a genuine commitment to person-centred support.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while following support plans, organisational policies and procedures.
- Experience working with individuals with complex needs.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate with staff, participants and stakeholders effectively and empathetically.
- Person-centred and committed to participant choice and independence.
- Comfortable working independently within a directed framework.
- Able to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
- Organised and able to complete documentation accurately.
Essential Requirements
- Current SA driver’s licence
- Availability to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and active and passive overnight shifts
- Reliable vehicle with comprehensive car insurance
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Smartphone
- Right to work in Australia
- Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent
