About the Position:
This fixed-term, full-time position (parental leave cover) is part of the Tree Services team within the Parks & Workplace Service Unit. The contract is offered from early September 2026 to 1 October 2027, with the possibility of extension.
As the Technical Officer Tree Services, you will provide specialist arboriculture expertise to support the sustainable management of the City's tree assets and urban forest. The role is integral to delivering high standards of tree assessment and management, customer service, tree risk management, development compliance and green asset sustainability across the City.
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will contribute to the planning and delivery of tree maintenance, planting and streetscape improvement programs, while supporting the City's response to climate change, biodiversity enhancement, water conservation and emerging biosecurity challenges.
About the Person:
You are an experienced arboriculture professional with solid technical knowledge of tree physiology, tree health, species selection and risk assessment.
You have experience applying relevant Australian Standards, Local Government policy and industry best practice, and can confidently provide technical advice, undertake assessments and prepare clear, professional reports. You are skilled in identifying pests, diseases and other tree health issues, with a sound ability to provide a high level of customer service.
Experience with GIS-based tree data systems, project management and safe work practices associated with tree and streetscape management will support your success in this role. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you build positive relationships with customers, contractors and colleagues. You are organised, adaptable and solutions-focused, with strong analytical skills, sound judgement and a commitment to continuous improvement.
You must have the following qualifications to be considered for the role:
- Certificate III or higher in Arboriculture or an equivalent Horticultural qualification
- QTRA Licensed User
- Current “C” Class Motor Vehicle Drivers Licence
- WA White Card
