Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experiencedAdministrative Officer to join the Ward 8 acute mental health team at The Northern Hospital, Epping.

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our six main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.

About the Role:

We are requiring a Administrative Officer to support the Ward 8 team, Northern Psychiatric Unit 2, located at the Northern Hospital, in Epping, Victoria.

We are a 25- bed unit acute mental health unit for adults, currently comprised of 20 General Care Area, and 5 Intensive Care Area mental health beds.

By joining our team, you will be positioned in our front reception space, providing a friendly welcome to our consumers and visitors as they come to our unit for care and support with their mental health.

The administrative support you provide to our unit, including processing admissions and discharges, generating alerts, filing and data entry,



ordering essential supplies and coordinating maintenance, as well as customer service is critical in the provision of excellent, patient centred care and the smooth functioning of the unit.

To be successful in this role you will have:

- Highly developed customer service and interpersonal skills
- Concise written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to communicate confidently in matters relating to Health Information to a wide range of stakeholders
- Professional telephone manner
- Relevant clerical experience and administrative skills
- Demonstrated ability to use data bases such as iPM & CMI
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage deadlines
- Able to work in a busy environment and under pressure
- Ability to engage with people diverse backgrounds, including consumers, families/carers, staff and external stakeholders
- Experience in public mental health system
