Run the gear that keeps our Waste Centre moving

You'll take on the day to day operation, maintenance and presentation of the Launceston Waste Centre, running heavy plant including the bulldozer, compactor, hook lift, front end loader, excavator and moxy. You'll process, segregate and recover waste, run the gate house and weighbridge, and keep the site safe and compliant for the Waste Centre team and everyone who visits. It's hands on, outdoors and genuinely essential to how our city runs.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

- Operate and maintain heavy plant including the bulldozer, compactor, front end loader and excavator, safely and to a high standard

- Process, segregate and manage waste and resource recovery across the landfill and transfer station

- Conduct weighbridge and gate house operations, delivering great service to every visitor

- Keep accurate records and report incidents, hazards and near misses promptly

About You

We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:

- Certificate III in Waste Management, or equivalent experience

- Current Class HR driver's licence

- Holder of a Construction Industry White Card

- Willingness to obtain certification to operate a front end loader, roll on/roll off vehicle, dozer, compactor, articulated dump truck and excavator

- Understanding of safety practices,



with the ability to identify and respond to hazards in an operational environment

- Great customer service skills, including conflict resolution and problem solving

- Ability to work one weekend per month, and willingness to undertake Hepatitis A/B immunisation as required for this waste handling role
