About the Role

This position is responsible for providing technical expertise and support for the Supervisor, Wardrobe and Presenters. Wardrobe Technicians work individually or as part of a team and participate in the operation of Wardrobe equipment for pre-production, rehearsal, and performance of shows and events in line with presenter's budgeted schedules.

Casual position. Band 2.1 $31.19 per hour plus 25% casual loading + 12% superannuation

Your Skills and Experience

- Possess a relevant qualification from a recognised institution or have equivalent experience working within a backstage Wardrobe environment
- Experience in backstage wardrobe techniques and equipment including; steaming, pressing, laundering, spot cleaning, stain removal, repairs and minor alterations of costume elements
- Competent at operating Wardrobe equipment e.g. washing-machines, tumble dryers, hot rooms, drying cabinets, irons, steamers sewing machines (both domestic and industrial) and overlockers
- Strong service ethic and understanding of production and presenter's needs
- Good understanding of wardrobe maintenance and ability to execute complex repairs and alterations to a satisfactory level
- A good understanding of the differences in cut and construction between opera, ballet and drama costumes

The Production department sits within the Performing Arts pillar and comprises of a team that delivers production services for ACM across Staging, Lighting, Audio, Broadcast, Wardrobe, Stage Management, and Training to enable the safe and efficient delivery of events across all our venues and spaces.
