About The Role

As a Workplace Relations Consultant, you will provide specialist workplace and industrial relations advice and services to People & Culture, people leaders, senior leaders and employees across the University.

Reporting to the Acting Director, Workplace Relations, Governance & Policy, your duties will include managing complex employee relations matters, providing strategic advice on workplace legislation and industrial instruments, supporting enterprise bargaining activities and other projects (if required), and contributing to change management initiatives that enable Swinburne to achieve its strategic objectives.

About You

- Demonstrated understanding of the law relating to workplace and industrial relations and an ability to interpret and apply enterprise agreements, awards, legislation, contracts and policies and procedures
- Demonstrated experience managing and/or advising on unsatisfactory performance/conduct, change management processes, grievances, terminations and redundancy processes
- Well-developed advocacy and negotiation skills and experience
- A demonstrated understanding of human resource practices, procedures and principles
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with management and staff at all levels and to provide professional and focused customer service
- Demonstrated ability to effectively and respectfully deal with highly confidential issues
- Ability to exercise skilled judgement in relation to advice and recommendations provided to staff and management and its associated implications encompassing a broad range of HR issues

Qualifications

- A tertiary qualification in law, HR Management or Industrial Relations,



and at least two years’ employee relations or industrial relations industry experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
