Based at the Coates Cambridge branch, you’ll play a key role in keeping our hire fleet safe, reliable and ready for customers. This is a hands-on mechanical role suited to someone who enjoys variety, teamwork and taking pride in maintaining high-performing equipment.
What You’ll Be Doing Day To Day
Your typical day will focus on:
Performing preventative maintenance, servicing and overhauls on a wide range of hire equipmentDiagnosing and repairing mechanical faults efficiently and safelyCompleting and maintaining accurate service and repair recordsWorking proactively to minimise operational downtimeEnsuring all work complies with Coates safety and quality standardsClose collaboration with operations,
service and customer-facing teams to support equipment availability and a high level of customer satisfaction

What You’ll Bring To The Role
Relevant trade qualifications ( [e.g. Mechanical, Diesel, Plant Mechanic] )Experience with:Petrol and diesel enginesHydraulics and pneumaticsBasic electrical fault findingCurrent Driver’s Licence (MR or HR preferred)Forklift and EWP tickets (beneficial, not essential)Robust troubleshooting, diagnostic and preventative maintenance skillsA safety-first mindset and a commitment to quality work
