About the Role:

We are seeking Allied Health Assistants who are eager to learn new skills and contribute to the delivery of Occupational Therapy services across Canberra Health Services (CHS).

These positions are suitable for Allied Health Assistant Level 2, under the Allied Health Assistant Level 2/3 Broadband Enterprise Agreement. Successful applicants will have the prospect to rotate across a variety of ward areas between The Canberra Hospital and University of Canberra Hospital, providing valuable exposure to diverse clinical environments and patient cohorts.

As an Allied Health Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting therapists and contributing to service delivery under direction, with a delegated caseload. You will work closely with Occupational Therapists on inpatient wards, supporting patients to build the skills and confidence needed to maximise their independence and transition safely home. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment and therapy resources, delivering delegated upper limb therapy, supporting activities of daily living retraining programs, and contributing to cognitive and visual retraining programs,



as well as assisting with home access visits. Through this work, you will play an important role in helping people achieve their goals and safely return home, making a real difference to their recovery journey.

Working under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, you will support the delivery of delegated therapy programs, assist with patient interventions, maintain therapy equipment and resources, and contribute to the efficient delivery of Occupational Therapy services across the health service.

You will join a supportive and collaborative team culture, where experienced clinicians work together to achieve the best outcomes for patients and each other. Comprehensive training will be provided, along with direct clinical supervision from an Occupational Therapist, offering excellent opportunities for professional growth, development, and broad clinical exposure.
