About the Role
As an Early Childhood Teacher, you will lead the implementation and delivery of a high-quality, developmentally appropriate educational program. Working collaboratively with co-educators and families, you will design innovative learning experiences that align with contemporary frameworks, encouraging children to become active participants in their own learning.
You will provide professional guidance and mentorship to the room team, maintaining full compliance with state and national regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Educational Program & Pedagogy:
- Design, implement, and evaluate a agile educational program grounded in the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Victorian Early Years Learning Development Framework (VEYLDF).
- Observe, document, and critically reflect on children's learning to tailor programs to individual and group interests, strengths, and developmental needs.
- Embed sustainable practices, cultural responsiveness, and authentic inclusions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into daily routines.
- Relationships & Community:
- Build and maintain warm, professional, and reciprocal relationships with children, families, and the local community.
- Partner with families to support transitions—including school readiness and Transition Learning and Development Statements (TLDS)—ensuring open,
ongoing communication regarding children's progress.
- Leadership & Team Collaboration:
- Lead, mentor, and support co-educators and room staff to foster a positive, cohesive team culture.
- Guide team members on reflective practice, teaching strategies, and adherence to the National Quality Standard (NQS).
- Health, Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure the health, safety, and active supervision of all children at all times.
- Maintain strict adherence to the Education and Care Services National Law, National Regulations, Victorian Child Safe Standards, and service-specific policies.
Key Selection CriteriaEssential:
- Qualifications: An approved ACECQA-recognised Bachelor or Master degree in Early Childhood Teaching (or equivalent approved qualification).
- Registrations & Clearances: Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) Registration, a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC), and a current National Police Check.
- Certifications: Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis management training certificates.
- Knowledge & Experience: Demonstrated sound understanding of the National Quality Framework (NQF), EYLF, and VEYLDF.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to connect meaningfully with children, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
Desirable:
- Demonstrated experience working within a regulated Victorian long day care or kindergarten setting.
- Proven experience mentoring and guiding fellow educators or early childhood students.
