An awarding winning team are opening a new bistro in Launceston and are looking for a skilled Sous Chef to support our Head Chef and help lead a small, close-knit kitchen team. Excellent opportunity for a chef ready to step into a senior role in a quality-driven, seasonal, produce-focused kitchen.

About the role

- Support the Head Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations and service
- Step up to run the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
- Assist with menu development, dish costing, and seasonal specials
- Supervise and mentor junior chefs, ensuring consistency across sections
- Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier coordination as needed
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and WHS standards throughout the kitchen
- Help maintain quality and consistency across à la carte service and private functions

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a Sous Chef
- Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery
- Strong section management and leadership skills
- Solid understanding of food costing, stock control, and kitchen compliance
- Current RSA and Food Safety Supervisor certificate




- Sound knowledge of HACCP and WHS requirements
- A reliable, calm presence able to run a section or a service independently
- Passion for seasonal, produce-driven cooking and high standards of hospitality

Pay: $63,612.87 – $82,000.00 per year
