Primary objective
Drawing on in-depth human resource expertise, lead a team of Workforce Services professionals delivering client focussed human resource
services.
Context statement
Workforce Services provides human resource services to client agencies through a centralised model in a geographically and culturally
diverse environment. This vacancy sits within the HR Actions team, which supports workforce and business operations by delivering
transactional and administrative services, coordinating workforce activities and enabling efficient service delivery.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Maintain effective relationships with client agencies to gain an understanding of their workforce needs, ensuring a responsive client
focussed service.
2. Lead, manage, coach and develop a team of Workforce Services officers and effectively drive the delivery of high-quality client
focused workforce services, including monitoring service demands and deliverables.
3. Work cross functionally to support effective workforce service management, having an extensive understanding of the NTPS
legislative framework.
4. Lead a range of strategic HR projects that support consistent Workforce Services and systems delivery across the NTPS.
5. Apply high level influencing and representational skills that contribute to the development and implementation of continuous
improvement in workforce services and human resource management practices at a whole of sector level.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Substantial experience operating as a senior human resource professional providing targeted strategic and operational human
resource management,
workforce relations advice to senior managers, stakeholders and other clients.
2. Highly developed strategic, conceptual, analytical skills, including the ability to interpret and apply employment and work health and
safety legislation.
3. Outstanding conceptual, problem solving and negotiation skills, with the capability to exercise sound judgement and anticipate future
consequences and trends accurately.
4. Demonstrated ability to successfully lead, manage, develop and encourage teams with differing roles and skill levels to perform to a
high standard.
5. Excellent knowledge relating to the methodology, systems and procedures across the broad spectrum of human resource disciplines.
6. High level oral and written communication skills, reinforced by demonstrated client liaison, influencing, and mediation skills to
communicate effectively across diverse audiences and levels.
7. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest, cutting-edge and
respectful.
Desirable
1. Extensive knowledge of the Public Sector Employment and Management Act 1993, the NTPS recruitment and selection processes or
similar and HR Management systems.
2. Relevant tertiary qualifications in human resources or a related field.
