Primary objective
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will be trained to work in single photon nuclear medicine, Positron Emission
Tomography, radiopharmaceutical production and quality control, with the opportunity to be involved in the Cyclotron
facility at the Royal Darwin Hospital.
They will be supported to develop their skill level to work within a dynamic team to service the Northern Territory
population.
This position is a dynamic role and open to new graduates through to experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologist.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake laboratory procedures, including the preparation of radiopharmaceuticals and their QC.
2. Interpret requests, obtain IV access, administer radiopharmaceuticals, and perform nuclear medicine procedures with

limited professional direction and supervision, in accordance with departmental policies and appropriate legislation.
3. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies, and procedures relating to the work being

undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
4. Assist in Quality Assurance procedures.
5. Contribute to continuous learning and professional development activities for the department.
6. Participate in ordering essential stock for the department.

Selection criteria
Essential
1.



Degree in Medical Radiation Science or equivalent from a registered University which allows eligibility for registration

as a Nuclear Medicine Practitioner with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia.
2. Demonstrated experience performing nuclear medicine procedures.
3. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with patients from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.

Desirable
1. Experience in the QC of radiopharmaceuticals.
2. Knowledge of with cassette-based PET radiopharmaceutical production.
3. Understanding of paediatric medical imaging.
4. Qualification and experience in diagnostic Computer Tomography imaging.
