Drover Ag Recruitment

Cowra

- Lead a new, high-tech automated sheep feedlot operation.
- Clear career progression pathway to a Stock Manager role.
- Competitive salary plus a 4-bedroom homestead with a pool.

Are you an ambitious agricultural professional looking for a pivotal role that balances hands-on stock management with the opportunity to play a key part in the expansion of a thriving, family-owned farming enterprise? Join the team at Kawea Pastoral, where you will build your career in the heart of the Cowra region, contributing to a business that is as committed to its team's professional development as it is to its own sustainable growth.

The Role
Stepping into this position as a Livestock Overseer, you will serve as a crucial second-in-command, working closely alongside the owner to orchestrate daily operations across a dynamic 3000-acre mixed enterprise that seamlessly integrates grazing with intensive feeding systems and contemporary equipment, with all livestock infrastructure being less than 8 years old. This is a role designed for an energetic professional who thrives on variety; your daily routine will see you managing a substantial sheep and cattle operation, including the oversight of a 4000-head sheep feedlot and a breeding program of 5,000 ewes, alongside the trading of 800 heifers on crops.

We require an operator who works autonomously, managing daily livestock movements utilising your quality working dogs and low-stress stock-handling principles at all times, feedlot nutrition and health, and essential farm maintenance—such as fencing and spraying—with minimal supervision. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of animal welfare and operational efficiency as the business is currently embarking on an exciting phase of infrastructure development—specifically,

the installation of a recent, high-tech automated feedlot. We are looking for someone who is ready to take on genuine responsibility, work autonomously with minimal supervision, and grow alongside an operation innovating for the future.

The Employer
Kawea Pastoral is a progressive, family-owned farming business located near Cowra, NSW, dedicated to producing high-quality livestock through a sophisticated combination of grazing and intensive feeding systems. With a strong focus on sustainable expansion, the business fosters a welcoming, family-oriented culture that prioritises professional development and actively encourages team members to learn, adapt, and contribute to the ongoing success of the enterprise. By joining the team, you are not just taking a job; you are becoming an integral part of a forward-thinking business that values initiative, collaboration, and long-term commitment.

Why You Should Apply
This position offers a unique trajectory for your career, providing a genuine pathway toward a Stock Manager position as you master the nuances of the business and help drive its future expansion. Providing a comprehensive compensation package that recognises your expertise, including a competitive salary, a work vehicle, and contributions toward electricity, all while offering the stability of a comfortable, four-bedroom homestead featuring a swimming pool,

situated just 26km from the major amenities of Cowra and a short 15-minute drive from the recreational appeal of Wyangala Dam.

The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a motivated, hands-on professional with a positive attitude, an unyielding work ethic, and a genuine, long-term desire to build a distinguished career in the Australian agricultural industry. To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Demonstrated high-level experience in stockmanship, proactive animal health management, and effective livestock handling protocols.
- A proven ability to work autonomously, demonstrating the initiative to manage your time effectively and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- A current driver's licence and a willingness to obtain ChemCert accreditation and Low Stress Stock Handling certification, as these are non-negotiable requirements for our client's operations.
- Practical experience in working with and effectively handling trained working dogs, as this is essential to the day-to-day movement of stock.
- A commitment to continuous learning, with previous experience in AgriWebb systems.

Register Your Interest
If you feel that your skills, experience, and ambition make you the right fit for this pivotal position, we invite you to submit an up-to-date resume along with the contact details of three professional references. Preference will be given to those who supply a well-considered cover letter addressing their suitability—tell us what you love about this specific role and how you believe your experience aligns with our client's vision for the future.
