An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled medical receptionist at Blacktown Dermatology, a leading dermatology clinic located next to Blacktown Hospital in a medical precinct. We are looking for an exceptional, experienced and well-presented medical receptionist to join our team immediately. This position is casual, with the potential to transition into a part-time permanent role.
Our clinic features a team of highly experienced dermatologists who provide care for both adults and children, specializing in skin cancer management and offering surgeries on-site. Our mission is to deliver high-quality care and support to our patients, and we are well-regarded for our service to both our patients and the community. Our medical receptionists play a crucial role in our success. The clinic has recently expanded to a modern, state-of-the-art facility, and we offer the opportunity for the right candidate to grow as the clinic continues to develop and hire more staff—this is an exciting time to join us!
The role requires working from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM on weekdays (or part-time hours as agreed). We are looking for candidates with over one year of medical reception experience who are eager to learn, work in a fun, team-oriented team environment, and embrace new challenges. Experience with Genie software or working in a dermatology practice will be highly regarded. Our staff are provided with reserved parking on premises.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Greeting patients as they arrive at the clinic
- Managing phone calls, faxes, correspondence, and emails
- Maintaining patient and other records in the database
- Ensuring patient confidentiality at all times
- Providing general administrative support (faxing, mailing, scanning, emailing, and liaising with doctors, clinical staff, and third parties such as hospitals, GP clinics, pathology, radiology, and other specialist rooms)
- Processing payments and issuing receipts, including Medicare and private billings
- Preparing rooms for consultants and assisting with phototherapy
Experience and attributes:
- Minimum of 1 year of recent medical reception experience is essential
- Strong computer skills, including experience with medical software (Genie experience is a plus, but training is provided)
- Familiarity with medical terminology and an understanding of the MBS, item numbers, and PRODA
- Strong multitasking abilities, excellent time management, and the capacity to work under pressure
- Fluent in written and spoken English, with outstanding customer service skills that demonstrate patience and compassion towards patients and their families
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Experience setting up and running a phototherapy unit is a plus, but training is available
We cannot accept applicants on temporary visas or students, as we are seeking a long-term team member. Permanent residency is a minimum requirement.
