Overview
Part-Time Senior Accountant (2–3 days/week) to oversee core financial operations and manage compliance, reporting, and risk. You'll lead our part-time Bookkeeper and work closely with a Fractional CFO, who will own strategic finance and FP&A.;
This is a hands-on role ideal for a self-sufficient accountant comfortable with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. FMCG or wholesale experience is a bonus, but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance & Risk Management - Ensure compliance with ATO and statutory requirements (GST, BAS, STP, super, payroll tax); support external tax and audit advisors.
- Month-End Close - Prepare journals, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments. Review and sign off Bookkeeper's work.
- Payments & Cash Flow - Review and load EFT payments, reconcile payment journals, maintain weekly cash flow visibility.
- AP/AR & Claims Oversight - Support Bookkeeper with complex rebate claims, trade spend adjustments, and non-standard AP/AR issues.
- Systems Support (Dynamics)
- Be the first line of support for Dynamics 365 Business Central finance-related troubleshooting; liaise with IT partners and Fractional CFO to resolve issues.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- CA or CPA qualified with 5+ years' experience in SME or mid-size businesses
- Comfortable managing a Bookkeeper and working with external advisors
- Proficient with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (Fenwick preferred)
- FMCG or wholesale experience a bonus (not essential)
- Practical, resourceful, and proactive – you get things done and solve problems quickly
