Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Paediatric Emergency Physician based internationally to join the Virtual Emergency Department covering night shifts (Australian eastern standard time). Â
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourneâs rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our six main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.
About the Role:
This role works as part of a team to lead and provide timely appropriate care and advice to paediatric patients registering for the Virtual Emergency Department (VED). In addition, supporting consultations and advice are provided to community healthcare workers such as paramedics and nurses.
Work is performed remotely from your country of residence.
This role is responsible for:
- Conducting virtual telehealth consultations with patients presenting with various medical conditions
- Maintaining accurate and timely medical records for all patient interactions
- Collaborating with VED team members, including nurses, specialists, and allied health professionals
- Providing patients and their families with clear information regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive health measures
- Adhering to clinical guidelines, protocols, and best practices to ensure patient safety and quality of care
- Efficiently using telehealth platforms and electronic medical record systems.
- Covering Australian eastern standard time night shiftsÂ
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience in delivering exceptional patient-centred care.
- Ability to be agile using technology to provide medical support to patients and their families
- Demonstrated a collaborative approach to patient care
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Undergraduate medical qualification as a first degree is essential â MBBS, MD, PhD or equivalent
- Fellowship with the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM/RACP/JTC) or Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP)
- Eligible for registration for Medicare provider number
- Current National Police and valid Victorian Working with Children History Check
