The Faculty of Science are looking to backfill a Faculty Technical Resources Manager position. A unique opportunity to step into a faculty leadership role.
About the role
The Acting Faculty Technical Resources Manager is accountable for the professional management of the Faculty's Technical Services teams enabling the core activities of teaching, research and external engagement.
The role leads strategic infrastructure and systems programs for Science to ensure they support the Faculty's strategic plan and meet legislative and UTS governance requirements.
Also acting as a senior advisor to the Faculty Executive, the role directs resourcing across technical, infrastructure and operational matters and provides leadership for service planning, continuous improvement, risk governance and capability development across laboratories, stores, workshops and specialist facilities.
This role represents a unique chance to step up into a temporary leadership role, as the successful candidate will operate within strategic leadership & continuous improvement; major project and leadership development; people leadership; financial stewardship; and faculty leadership & governance initiatives.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- A postgraduate qualification in a related discipline and/or extensive senior management experience.
- Extensive experience leading high-performance technical teams in complex environments, including coaching managers and supervising workforce governance.
- Proven expertise leading people through transformational change while maintaining service continuity and a customer-centric approach.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution,
with demonstrated ability to engage credibly with senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to assess complex issues, evaluate options, and implement feasible solutions.
- Knowledge of governance and compliance requirements relevant to laboratory and facility operations, including WHS and risk management frameworks.
- Business acumen and a knowledge of procurement and contract governance within a large organisation, including delegations, probity and value-for-money considerations.

Remuneration
A competitive salary package is on offer for the successful candidate. This role is classified as an SSG1.
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
This position is full-time and an appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for approximately 18 months (to backfill staff secondment).
