Canine Trainer / Intern Canine Trainer

Take the Lead Canine Services | Two Wells, South Australia

Experienced Trainers Welcome | No Experience Required for Intern Position

Do you want a career working with dogs that genuinely changes lives?

Take the Lead Canine Services is a family owned boarding, training, rescue and daycare facility located on 23 acres in Two Wells, South Australia. We are passionate about helping dogs and their owners build better relationships through practical, balanced training while providing exceptional care in a farm style environment.

As our business continues to grow, we're looking to expand our training team and are currently seeking either an Experienced Canine Trainer or an Intern Canine Trainer who is ready to build a long term career with us.

Whether you're already an experienced trainer or you're looking for the opportunity to learn from the ground up, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

Our trainers work with a wide variety of dogs and behavioural challenges every day. Clients travel from all over Australia to utilise our services for puppy training, obedience, behaviour modification, fear based behaviours, dog reactivity and rehabilitation cases.

Working alongside an experienced team, your role may include:

- Conducting behavioural assessments

- Training dogs through our Stay and Learn and Day Training programs

- Developing individual training plans

- Coaching owners through follow up sessions

- Writing client progress updates

- Handling dogs of all breeds, sizes and temperaments

- Assisting with boarding and daycare operations

- Providing exceptional customer service to our clients

- Contributing to the daily running of our 23 acre facility

No two days are ever the same.

Applicants with previous professional dog training experience are encouraged to apply.

We're looking for someone who is confident handling dogs with a range of behavioural challenges and who enjoys working closely with both dogs and their owners. Experience with balanced training methods is highly regarded, although ongoing professional development will be provided.

Intern Canine Trainer

No previous professional dog training experience is required.

We're looking for someone with a genuine passion for dogs who is eager to learn, takes initiative and wants to build a long term career in the canine industry.

You'll receive hands on mentoring from our experienced trainers while developing the practical skills needed to become a professional Canine Trainer.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

- Is seeking a long term career, not simply another job

- Is reliable, committed and has an excellent work ethic

- Is physically fit and enjoys working outdoors

- Has excellent communication and customer service skills

- Can work both independently and within a team

- Has solid attention to detail

- Can think on their feet and problem solve under pressure

- Is willing to learn and continually develop their skills

- Is confident handling or willing to learn to handle dogs of all breeds and sizes

We are particularly looking for applicants who are ready to commit to building a meaningful career with genuine opportunities for progression.

This role is physically demanding and isn't always glamorous. You'll be working outdoors in all weather conditions, spending long days on your feet, cleaning kennels, picking up dog waste and helping maintain a clean and safe environment for every dog in our care.

If you're looking for an easy job because you love dogs, this probably isn't the role for you.

If you're passionate about helping dogs, enjoy hard work and want to become part of a team that genuinely changes lives, we'd love to meet you.

- Robust communication skills

- Basic computer and smartphone skills
