Scotch Oakburn College is an independent, open entry day and boarding school of approximately 1,300 students from Early Learning through to Year 12, in association with the Uniting Church in Australia. Scotch Oakburn College is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher of Health & Physical Education to join our team at the Penquite Campus in Launceston. Commencing in Term 4, 2026 until 25 June 2027 this full-time, maximum term position offers an exciting chance for an experienced educator to make a meaningful impact in the field of Health & Physical Education. As a Teacher of Health & Physical Education, you will be responsible for:
- Developing and delivering engaging and comprehensive Health & Physical Education curriculum to students.
- Implementing innovative teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning needs and styles.
- Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters students' physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
- Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback to support their continuous development.
- Collaborating with colleagues within the Health & Physical Education department to enhance the overall educational experience.
- Participating in professional development opportunities to stay abreast of current trends and best practices in Health & Physical Education.
- Contributing to the wider school community through involvement in extracurricular activities, events, and initiatives.
The successful candidate will possess:
- A recognised teaching qualification coupled with relevant experience in Health & Physical Education.
- Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary pedagogies and approaches within the field of Health & Physical Education.
- An ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues while maintaining professionalism at all times.
- An understanding of assessment principles and practices aimed at supporting student learning outcomes.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset essential for effective teamwork within the department and across the school community.

- Qualified teacher status with relevant degree in Health & Physical Education
- Registration with the Tasmanian Teachers Registration Board (or the ability to attain such registration)
