One of our most unique properties is the historic YHA Fremantle Prison. Built in the 1850's it's the only accommodation in Western Australia with UNESCO World Heritage Status. Our more adventurous guests can choose to sleep in the actual prison cells! The hostel has 50 rooms including shared accommodation spaces and ensuited private rooms for more discerning travellers. This is a small but fun and professional team in an setting like no other.
About the role:
We are on the search for a proactive and passionate hospitality allrounder to join our team in Fremantle. The Overnight Guest Services All Rounder has the potential to be a live in position and is the ultimate part time role that allows you to gain exposure to all operational aspects of our amazing properties and sets you up for a career in Hospitality and Tourism industry.
This is a unique position that allows you to work across Reception, Housekeeping, and Guest Activities.
With development opportunities locally and across Australia, this role is the perfect next step for someone looking to build the foundation of a career in general or property management.
These overnight opportunities allow you to stay onsite and respond to possible operational requirements as needed. This position could live onsite permanently (with low rent rate as per the Hospitality Industry General Award) or just be sleepover 3 to 4 nights per week – the choice is yours!
Responsibilities include:
- Reception - Welcoming guests to the property and ensuring their check in process is seamless whilst ensuring all accounts and documentation is recorded accurately.
- Guest Activities - Create, promote and plan guest activities including social events and activities to ensure our guests stay engaged and entertained.
- Housekeeping - Ensure the property and guest rooms are maintained to the highest standards. This includes ensuring laundry and managing any maintenance or safety issues are managed efficiently.
- Health & Safety - Ensure adherence to all YHA Policies and procedures to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
About you:
- You will need to have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and enjoy providing guests with a fun and engaging service
- You will be looking for a long term position, minimum of 6 to 12 months availability or more
- Ideally you'll have experience in customer service, hospitality, or a similar role
- You'll need to have good attention to detail and organisational skills
- Experience using Microsoft office and ideally experience in reservations/POS or bookings systems
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays (sometimes you’ll get to stay overnight!).
- First Aid certificate is desirable
- Knowledge of the local area and travel/tourism industry (desired)
