Coast Shelter is a leading Central Coast not for profit charity, assisting families, adults and young people with complex issues arising from their experience of homelessness, abuse and neglect. Our vision is to see a community where everyone has a safe place to call home and is empowered to thrive.

At Coast Shelter, you'll be joining a team of committed staff and volunteers who work to provide support to people experiencing homelessness, domestic and family violence, and other complex challenges across the Central Coast. We are driven by our mission to deliver person-centred services to people in crisis within our community experiencing homelessness or domestic and family violence.

The Role

Join our dedicated team at Coast Shelter as a Support Worker in our Youth Program, a role that is pivotal in providing care and fostering positive outcomes for vulnerable youth.

We operate six Youth Refuge's across the Central Coast – four mixed gender, one all-female, and one Bail Accommodation Support Service. These refuges operate a 24/7 environment and as such we require coverage for day, afternoon and sleepover shift patterns across weekdays, weekends and public holidays.

If you are available for shift patterns of all days and times, and are willing to work across different locations on the Central Coast we would love to hear from you!

Key duties include:

- Supporting clients to participate in daily routines, activities and living skills/capacity building
- Providing support around transport, appointments and community engagement




- Facilitating connection to culture and community
- Assisting with NDIS access and supporting family restoration efforts
- Maintaining accurate documentation and reporting as required

All About You

You are passionate about supporting young people and are dedicated to making a positive impact on their lives and futures. You understand the unique challenges faced by young people, and have the skills to assist young people in building confidence and resilience, so they can make positive choices for their future. Your strong communication skills and ability to build trust and rapport are essential in this role.

We are looking for someone with:

- Tertiary Qualification, minimum qualification for this role is a TAFE Certificate III or equivalent and/or significant industry experience.
- Experience working with vulnerable people or in a support role
- Understanding of trauma informed care and person-centred support
- Proven ability to maintain boundaries and respond to challenging behaviours
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Valuable knowledge of court support and the juvenile justice system is highly regarded.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Successful applicants must hold a NSW Driver Licence, current First Aid and CPR Certificate. You will be required to undertake:

- National Criminal History Check
- Working with Children Check
- Professional Reference Checks
- Qualification and Licence Verification

Some appointments may require a Medical Fitness Assessment.
