About the role

Psychology at UTS is experiencing significant growth. Building on our successful Master of Clinical Psychology and Graduate Diplomas in Psychology, new undergraduate psychology programs launched in 2024. This role offers a rare opportunity to influence the strategic development of a rapidly evolving psychology discipline, shape innovative curricula, mentor and develop early- and mid-career researchers, and contribute to the growth of a vibrant research culture.

About You

You are an accomplished academic leader with a strong record of excellence in research, teaching, and service. You will bring an internationally recognised profile aligned with one or more of our key research themes, together with demonstrated success in curriculum innovation, team leadership, research mentoring, and the strategic development of teaching and research initiatives.

As the Associate Professor, Discipline in Psychology you will possess:

- A PhD in Psychology or a related discipline
- Proven relevant work experience, understanding and currency in psychology and professional positioning of the discipline nationally and internationally
- High level interpersonal skills and proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues, students and a wide range of stakeholders
- Superior leadership skills, particularly in relation to the development of teams and collaborative relationships, including those external to the University
- Demonstrated excellence in learning and teaching across a range of psychology subjects, including ability to meet the educational needs of students
- Strong professional links with relevant industry and the community




- Proven ability to develop and lead research teams and to obtain external grants for research, coordinate research projects and publish in high quality journals
- Proven ability to attract and supervise Higher Degree Research students and mentor research supervisors
- Experience in supervision of groups of staff and/or development and mentoring of staff
- Ability to plan, organise and achieve work targets, sometimes in demanding circumstances and to work harmoniously and constructively with academic colleagues and other university staff
- Willingness to commit to the University's Vision and Values including an understanding of and ability to apply equal chance in the workplace and commitment to the needs and expectations of diverse groups within the community.

Desirable:

- Qualifications relevant to teaching (e.g. Graduate Certificate in Higher Education)
- Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.

Remuneration

Base Salary Range: $186,260 to $192,307 per annum (Academic Level D)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

The position is full time (1.0 FTE) and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.

A hybrid work arrangement is available which comprises of working onsite at the UTS Broadway Sydney campus and remote working.
