Legeneering is an established Western Australian engineering and fabrication company delivering specialist services across the Defence, Marine, Energy and Industrial sectors.
Operating from our Henderson production facilities, our team supports major projects involving workshop and in-situ machining, marine mechanical installation, vessel construction and sustainment, rotating equipment, piping systems, fabrication and complex mechanical works.
We are continuing to grow our Defence, Marine & Industrial Services division and are looking for capable tradespeople who want to be part of that growth.

We are looking for people who take ownership of their work, support their team and maintain high standards of safety, precision and quality.
Duties and Responsibilities Overview:
- Manual machining using lathes, milling machines, drills, boring equipment and associated workshop machinery.
- Manufacturing, repairing and modifying shafts, bushes, sleeves, pins, flanges, couplings and other precision components.
- In-situ machining, including line boring, flange facing, drilling, tapping and portable machining activities.
- Precision fitting and assembly of bearings, seals, couplings, shafts and rotating equipment.
- Measuring and inspecting components using micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and other precision instruments.
- Working to specified tolerances, fits and surface finishes from engineering drawings, samples or existing components.
- Equipment alignment, fault-finding, mechanical repairs and vessel sustainment activities.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and work packs.
- Completing dimensional inspections, quality records and project documentation.
- Working within client facilities, shipyards and Legeneering's Henderson production facilities.
- Supporting testing, commissioning and project completion activities.
Minimum Position Requirements:
- Australian recognised Fitter Machinist trade qualification, Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting and Machining), or equivalent.
- Proven experience in manual machining and mechanical fitting within workshop,
marine, defence, heavy industry or similar environments.
- Competence operating manual lathes, milling machines, drilling and boring equipment.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret dimensions, tolerances, fits and surface finish requirements.
- Sound experience using precision measuring equipment and completing dimensional inspections.
- A strong commitment to safety, quality, practical problem-solving and doing the job correctly.
- Ability to work effectively within a team, communicate clearly and hold a current Australian driver's licence.
- Experience with in-situ machining, line boring, flange facing, CNC machining, marine propulsion systems, shaft lines, rotating equipment or naval vessels will be highly regarded but is not essential.
