The Opportunity:
Reporting directly to the Property and Grounds Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor is a leadership and hands-on role responsible for the effective delivery and coordination of maintenance functions across our College.
In this role, you will manage small building projects, drive continuous improvement strategies and provide direct supervision to our Maintenance Officer. Additionally, you will step up to assume delegated responsibilities for the Property and Grounds Manager during their absence, making this an exceptional opportunity for an experienced tradesperson.
The role:
- Coordinate the daily operations of the College’s Maintenance Department
- Provide direct supervision, task allocation and support for the Maintenance Officer
- Oversee, prioritise, and allocate duties via the College job tracking system
- Undertake building and related tasks on small-scale infrastructure and capital works projects
- Assist with, coordinate, and execute the refurbishment of offices and teaching spaces, including small-scale demolition when required
- Ensure all external workers complete the compulsory Contractor Safety Induction before commencing work
- Assume the delegated responsibilities of the Property and Grounds Manager during their absence, including attending daytime and after-hours meetings
- Act as Deputy Chief Warden (stepping up to Chief Warden if the Manager is absent). Serve as the secondary site contact for after-hours security/fire emergencies (primary contact if the Manager is absent)
- Actively support a safe workplace by conducting T5 risk assessments prior to hazardous tasks and promptly reporting hazards, incidents
What we need:
- Demonstrated commitment to internal service delivery and stakeholder support, with a proven ability to respond to staff requests with professionalism, urgency, and exceptional problem-solving skills
- Extensive hands-on experience within the building, construction, or maintenance industries
- Excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication skills, with a proven track record of building positive professional relationships
- Strong organisational capability, lateral thinking, and the initiative to manage shifting priorities under pressure
- Working knowledge of computers and the capability to manage electronic security systems and job tracking software
- Prior maintenance or supervisory experience within a school or comparable campus or site environment
Qualifications:
- Current South Australian Driver’s Licence
- Valid South Australian Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance, or a willingness to obtain prior to commencement
- Current Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse & Neglect Certificate, or a willingness to obtain prior to commencement
- Relevant trade certificates, academic transcripts, or diplomas
- Formal Carpentry qualification or background is desirable
- A valid Builder’s Licence is desirable
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate is preferred
