About The Opportunity

We're seeking a Utilities Systems Inspection Officer to join our Utilities team and help ensure the integrity, safety and compliance of critical water and sewer infrastructure across the Shire.

This is an opportunity to combine technical expertise, stakeholder engagement and environmental stewardship in a role that makes a real difference to the community. Working across both field and office environments, you'll manage compliance programs, undertake investigations and inspections, provide technical advice and help improve the systems that support sustainable water management.

What You’ll Be Doing

Monitor and manage compliance across water and sewer systems, including liquid trade waste, backflow devices and private infrastructure and reuse systemsConduct inspections, testing and audits to ensure systems meet regulatory and Council requirementsReview field data and support the issuing of approvals, reports and non-compliance noticesMaintain accurate records and system registers for compliance and reporting purposesEducate customers, contractors and the community on compliance requirements and best practicesContribute to the development and improvement of policies, systems and processes

What We’re Looking For

Experience in utilities, water, wastewater, plumbing, drainage, environmental management (or a related field)Knowledge of water reticulation and sewerage collection systemsExperience interpreting and applying regulations, standards or compliance requirementsStrong organisational and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with customers, contractors and stakeholdersConfidence working independently and managing competing prioritiesStrong computer and reporting skillsCurrent Driver Licence

Highly Regarded

Certificate IV in Water Industry Operations (Liquid Trade Waste Regulation) or willingness to obtainBackground in plumbing, drainage, environmental health or wastewater operationsKnowledge of wastewater monitoring, sampling and testing techniquesConfined Space or Construction WHS certificationsExperience in policy development or process improvement

We Offer

Full-time position (35 hours per week)Salary and Conditions will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State)



Award with an appointment at a salary in the range of $1,403.59 to $1,626.28 per week (dependent upon skills and experience)Commuter lease vehicle available12% Superannuation
